Plan the route, materials, installation methods and crew sequence before mobilization to support a faster and more predictable fiber deployment.
Fiber deployment delays rarely stem from a single slow installation task. They usually arise from incomplete route planning, unresolved permitting, unavailable materials, unsuitable conduit selection or poor coordination between design and construction teams.
Plan HDPE conduit use to address these risks before crews arrive. During preconstruction, review route conditions, conduit requirements, installation limits and documentation requirements. Treat each fiber installation as a coordinated system rather than an isolated trenching, boring or cable-pulling task.
1. Release an incomplete route and site plan
Do not release a construction package with unresolved route conflicts. Confirm:
Use current survey data and utility records. Mark locations requiring additional potholing, field verification or engineering review. A route change after material release or crew mobilization causes avoidable redesign, delivery and scheduling delays.

Prepare conduit reels, pull paths and equipment before starting trenching or directional drilling.
7. Handle and protect conduit incorrectly
Protect conduit from damage before, during and after placement. Require crews to:

9. Pull cable before confirming installation readiness

10. Sequence crews, testing and documentation poorly
Coordinate design, permitting, material delivery, civil construction, conduit placement, cable pulling, splicing, testing and closeout on a single schedule. Do not schedule fiber pulling immediately after conduit placement without allowing time for inspection and acceptance.
Require crews to complete:
Incomplete records cause rework during acceptance and future maintenance. Close each segment before releasing the next crew.

Stop work and document the condition when the field does not match the approved design. Do not direct crews to make changes that affect safety, utility separation, conduit integrity or cable performance.
